This intensive 6-week program focuses on the importance of cutting and custom-fitting in harmony for style, elegance, and comfort while incorporating modern fashion design techniques, thus providing a education that meets the growing demands of the tailoring and fashion industries. Led by master tailor, Marlene Franke, this class offers a blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical sessions.
Upon completion of the program, participants will not only acquire a profound understanding of the nuances of diagnosing and correcting a multitude of fitting imbalance, structured tailoring but will also have achieved, designing, patterning, cutting and precisely fitting a three-piece suit, showcasing their newfound skills and craftsmanship.
Whether you aspire to become a professional tailor and designer or simply wish to master the art of fitting tailored garments for personal satisfaction, this course provides a solid foundation and practical skills for anyone passionate about the world of bespoke fashion.
Design Fundamentals: The principles of design, color theory, and style elements crucial for creating unique and aesthetically pleasing suits.
Precision Measurement Techniques: Students learn how to take precise measurements, understand how to identify various figure issues, and how to translate these into precise patterns for a perfect fit.
Pattern Drafting: Student learn pattern drafting and how to incorporate a variety of style feature into trousers, waistcoats, and jackets.
Fitting and Adjustments: Learn how to conduct a basted fitting, diagnose and remedy fitting issues, and make necessary fitting adjustments to achieve an impeccable fit.
Textiles: Students explore the creation, design, production, and application of fabrics and offering insights into various materials, weaving techniques, dyeing processes, and innovations in the textile industry.

Must be 21 years or older.
High school graduate.
Must have the financial means to afford tuition, all tools and materials, and living expenses.
Possess a strong work ethic and study habits.
Have a high degree of passion, discipline, and determination for the craft.
Must have sewing experience and be proficient with a tailor’s thimble, needle, and thread.
Successfully complete the online prerequisite course on tailor’s hand stitches (This prerequisite course is available and completed as part of the admissions process).
